How sad and horrifying it must have been to have discovered what was hidden in this poor mammal's stomach - as if we needed any more proof of what happens when we dump waste into the world's oceans.

When scientists opened up and analyzed the whale’s stomach, they found it full of plastic waste - 30 plastic bags to be exact.

More than half — 52 percent — involved children under the age of 18. And in 61 percent of the cases, the injuries were caused by furniture falling or tipping over.

In June 2015, the agency launched “Anchor It,” a public education campaign to prevent such accidents from killing or seriously injuring children.

Last summer, Ikea, the largest furniture retailer in the world, recalled 29 million dressers following the deaths of three toddlers. In all incidents, a piece of Ikea furniture had tipped over them.

This must have taken some time - or so we thought. But if you look closely, you can see it was some mere cloth-coverings all in the right places that changed the two 'O's to 'E's. Ingenious! Many see this as a good sign and have posted their reactions on social media. 
This wasn't the first time the sign was changed to 'HollyWEED' either. 

Back on Jan. 1, 1976, the same day California’s relaxed marijuana law took effect. Cal State Northridge student Danny Finegood had a plan to alter the sign by using $50 of curtains and a couple friends. And it worked, giving Hollywood a Hollyweed sign for a short time. Google's New "Timelapse" Feature

Wow. Check out Fort McMurray, AB, Canada. Fascinating! 

Google has recently released a Google Earth feature called, "Timelapse," which is a good thing in a bad way - since it allows users to see how the globe has changed over the past 32 years. In other words, how humans have slowly modified their space on earth.

Combining over 5 million satellite images acquired over the past three decades by 5 different satellites, Timelapse lets viewers witness the growth of areas in their region.

The global, zoomable video is made from 33 cloud-free annual mosaics, one for each year from 1984 to 2016, which are made interactively explorable by Carnegie Mellon University CREATE Lab's Time Machine library, a technology for creating and viewing zoomable and pannable timelapses over space and time.

We added a Timelapse for a place closer to home; Toronto Pearson International Airport in Mississauga, which was quite interesting. But there were even more fascinating ones we have since discovered such as a lake in Bolivia vanishing or cities growing spectacularly in China and a few more!

WORLD'S WORST TRAFFIC JAM? California's Thanksgiving getaway 'gridlock'

Wow. That's one helluva traffic jam...

If these motorists thought setting off early would help them beat the Thanksgiving getaway rush, it appears a few others had the same idea. 

ABC7 Eyewitness News captured incredible footage of what might just be the world’s worst car jam in southern California, bringing traffic to a crawl.

Nowhere to MOOOVE. Three Cows Stranded After New Zealand Earthquake

Look at them all stranded. Looks like a family too; mamma, pappa, and baby. They say New Zealand has 10 million cattle - easily outnumbering its 4.7 million people!...

WELLINGTON, New Zealand - Three cows were left high and dry with nowhere to move after an earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale hit New Zealand on Monday, The Associated Press reported.

Video taken by Newshub news service from a helicopter near the small town of Kaikoura shows two adult cattle and a calf stuck on a chunk of land in a paddock that had been ripped apart in Monday's magnitude-7.8 quake. The patch of grass was surrounded by deep ravines of collapsed earth, trapping the animals where they stood. 

It was not immediately clear who owned the cattle or what was being done to help them.

TORONTO — Patrons at a Toronto pub may have done a double take on Friday night when pop star Justin Bieber sat down at the piano and played a few songs.
Fifth Pubhouse issued a news release Sunday saying Bieber wandered in alone, ordered a drink and watched the Toronto Raptors’ game. 

The pub says he spied a piano and asked staff if he could play it.

The world’s shortest flight, a tiny hop between two remote British islands, celebrated Monday taking its millionth passenger on the route.

In September, Greater Toronto Airways, a small airline operating out of Billy Bishop on Toronto Island, began operating a flight to Niagara Falls. The flight takes just 15 minutes, with a return ticket costing $159.

Giant Jade Stone 'Too Big to Move'

What a find! Too bad it can't be moved since they have neither the equipment nor the road to move it on! So do all the miners get a piece of the discovery?...

A 174-tonne piece of jade worth millions of euro that was uncovered in Myanmar will have to stay where it is for now because its owners do not have equipment strong enough to move it. 

The 5.8 metre-long stone was discovered by miners in northern Kachin state last week, buried up to 60 metres deep inside a mountain.

NORWAY: Over 300 Reindeer Killed by Lightning

How is that possible? That's a lot of reindeer dying all at once - although the area seems to be a reindeer haven. It is said around 10,000 wild reindeer roam the mountain area...

STOCKHOLM — More than 300 wild reindeer have been killed by lighting in central Norway. 

The Norwegian Environment Agency has released eerie images showing a jumble of reindeer carcasses scattered across a small area on the Hardangervidda mountain plateau. The agency says 323 animals were killed, including 70 calves, in the lightning storm Friday. 

Agency spokesman Kjartan Knutsen told The Associated Press it's not uncommon for reindeer or other wildlife to be killed by lightning strikes but this was an unusually deadly event. 

"We have not heard about such numbers before," he said Monday.
He said reindeer tend to stay very close to each other in bad weather, which could explain how so many were killed at once. 

"I don't know if there were several lighting strikes," he said. "But it happened in one moment."
Knutsen said the agency is now discussing what to do with the dead animals. Normally, they are just left where they are to let nature take its course, he said.

“That’s just crazy,” Mrs Payne told the BBC. “I’m just laughing – in all honesty, that is ridiculous. I’ve looked at the number of views and it just seems like someone is just playing with a calculator.” 

It’s a big number: So far, more than 48 million people have watched Payne laugh hysterically as she shows Facebook her new purchase. (Update: As of early Saturday, the video has had 91 million views.)

The history of what has been referred to as “one of the finest cat pictures in the world” (Oakland Tribune, February 4, 1930, p. 50) dates back  to the early 1890s when it was commissioned by cat enthusiast, Kate Birdsall Johnson of San Francisco. In 1891 Mrs. Johnson, possibly America’s greatest cat enthusiast, commissioned artist Carl Kahler to paint a portrait of some of her 350 cats who all lived in great luxury in her California home.

If you’re one of those over 37 million members signed up with Ashley Madison, you may want to start packing your bags now as your private details and (private parts, who knows), may be exposed for all to see. News of their site being hacked has been spreading faster than a rumour in a workplace.

Ashley Madison, the most famous name in infidelity and married dating for those thousands of cheating wives and cheating husbands looking for an affair, had large caches of data stolen from their online cheating site by an individual or individuals that claims to have completely compromised the company’s user databases, meaning all the important stuff has been stolen, not just from Avid Life Media (ALM), the Toronto-based firm that owns AshleyMadison but also their other related hookup sites, Cougar Life and Established Men.

In the meantime, ALM has released a statement with all the usual crap stating they know what’s going on, they told the police, they are working on catching the bad guys, they are sorry it happened, blah blah blah. (See the actual media statement at the end of this post).

Peshawar Student Saved by Faulty Alarm Clock

All the ninth graders were killed that fateful day on Tuesday, when the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan opened fire at the Peshawar Army Public School in Pakistan. All but one – 15 year-old Dawood Ibrahim.

The Express Tribune reported, because of a family wedding the night before and an alarm clock that remained silent, he was able to escape the tragedy.

Escaping such tragedy is one thing but dealing with it afterwards is another. Dawood lost not one, two or even three of his closest friends, but six. As a result, he is immensely traumatized and is said to be rendered speechless.

“He is in judo and is a tough child but he is showing no emotion at all right now. He just attended funerals the entire day. No one from his class survived. Every single one of them was killed,” Dawood’s elder brother Sufyan Ibrahim told The Express Tribune.

“Dawood isn’t talking to anyone; he isn’t talking at all,” his brother said.

PAKISTAN: 134 Students Shot Dead At Military School During Exams; 126 Injured

Wednesday, December 16, 2015 marks the one year anniversary of the 2014 Peshawar school massacre when  seven gunmen affiliated with the Tehrik-i-Taliban (TTP) carried out a terrorist attack on the Army Public School in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar.

The militants, all of whom were foreign nationals, included one Chechen, three Arabs and two Afghans. They entered the school and opened fire on school staff and children, killing 141 people, including 132 schoolchildren, ranging between eight and eighteen years of age. A rescue operation was launched by the Pakistan Army’s Special Services Group (SSG) special forces, who killed all seven terrorists and rescued 960 people. On 02 December, 2015 Pakistan hung four militants involved in the Peshawar massacre.

This was the deadliest terrorist attack ever to occur in Pakistan, surpassing the 2007 Karachi bombing.

Everyone turns away or do nothing whenever stories like these are published about dog meat trading. We are guilty of it also. Maybe it’s because we can’t handle the flagrant and shocking disregard for the well being of these animals and the torture these dogs are put through everyday – all in the name of  ‘tradition’ – dog meat delicacies.

Did you know – the dogs are put through such torture because according to Soi Dog’s website, “when they are in pain, their bodies release adrenaline that softens their meat.”

People, these are not chickens, or cows. These are dogs. Man’s best friend. Dogs who wait patiently for their masters to return home after a long day at work. Dogs who will lay by your grave site in mourning. Dogs who will love you unconditionally. You hear the stories all the time:

• There’s Ciccio, the 12-year-old German shepherd in Italy who used to attend the church of his master every day and stood at the altar in hopes of her return. “Maria of the fields” – died suddenly in November 2012, and when the church bell would toll, Ciccio would show up and wait at the altar at the same church his master attended every day for years, when she was alive. Would a cow do that?
• Or Hawkeye the chocolate Lab. Back in 2011, Navy SEAL Jon Tumilson died in a helicopter crash that killed 38 American servicemen. At the funeral with 1,5oo in attendance, one sight caught all their eyes – Hawkeye – his dog, who refused to leave his side:  According to observers the Labrador “dropped to the ground and gave a sigh” and remained at the foot of the casket for the duration of the funeral.

The only way to capture your attention to this appalling tradition, is through graphic images and stories like the one you’re about to read. THE REALLY BLACK CHICKEN - INSIDE AND OUT!

Have you heard about the black chicken? No I mean the really, really black chicken. Not only is it really black but it's black from head to toe, inside and out!

These rarely kept bred of chickens are called the Ayam Cemani chickens, (Ayam meaning “chicken” in Indonesian and Cemani - “completely black” in Javanese), which originated from the island of Java, Indonesia. Dutch breeder, Jan Steverink first imported it into Europe in 1998 and there are stocks that are currently kept in the Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic and Slovakia. There is also several varieties one of which includes the Swedish Black Chicken.
