CHINA: 5 Elderly Women Feed 1,300 STRAY DOGS Everyday (7 Photos)

It is always good to hear stories like these coming out of China since, let’s face it, we often hear more about their consuming of dog meat, even though we’re sure they’re not the only ones. However, there are often two sides to a story as these elderly women have proven.

These 5 elderly women from Weinan, Shaanxi Province of China, ranging in ages from 60s and 70s, awake every morning at 4 AM to prepare 400 kilograms of dog food to feed over the 1,300 stray dogs. And they have been doing so for the last six years!

The dog shelter was established in 2009 by 60-year-old Wang Yanfang when she witnessed many strays taken away by the local authorities. They rely solely on donations from well wishers who support their cause.

And although they occasionally receive bites and nips from some of the dogs, it doesn’t deter Wang who stated, “They’re like your children, you can’t bear to be apart from them, or to lose them.”
