Meet Farouk James. Over 158K followers on Instagram already have.
As his mom, Bonnie, told Tech Insider, “We hope to show the world that it's okay for boys to have a long curly crown.”
Yes, he's a HE and not a SHE as so many have mistakenly assumed - us included. With all that cuteness and hair, is it any wonder?
“When Farouk James was a baby, we knew that he was a special child,” Bonnie told Tech Insider. “[He] caught everyone's attention.”
Within a month, Bonnie said he had 2,000 followers. People started to recognize him in the street.
“Farouk always got a lot of attention even before he became [popular on Instagram],” Bonnie told TI. “It would literally take me an hour for a 15-minute walk since I would get stopped over and over again with the same questions and compliments.”
Sometimes, Bonnie says it can become overwhelming, recalling a time people chased them trying to get a picture.
It can also become uncomfortable when strangers try to touch Farouk's hair.
"They fail to recognize that it's a part of his body," Bonnie said. "I have taught him to say, 'Thanks for the compliment, but please don't touch my hair.'"
Farouk today...
