WHAT WE ALL NEED: A Mercedes Luxury Pickup Truck? The Concept is Here... (12 Photos + Video)

Everyone's talking about Mercedes' unveiling on October 25 of its new - not one, but two pickup truck concepts, the X-Class. One version is focused on off-road use while the other is more luxury-based.

There is said to be no US launch date as of yet, but we can still drool can't we?

The Powerful Adventurer, the rugged hardcore off-roader has a higher ride-height and ground clearance, along with extra protection on the wheel arches, an electric winch at the front, and a metal hook at the back. While the more genteel "Stylish Explorer" model has more of an SUV feel to it, with cleaner running lines, flared wheel arches, and 22-inch light-alloy wheels. Both, of course, have all the usual technological extras, including a central touchscreen display "similar to a smartphone" and "modern driver assistance."

In profile, you can clearly see the X-Class concept's Nissan Navara roots, but the rest of the styling is all Mercedes. Its headlights are different, but you can clearly see a lot of AMG GT in the front end. Whether or not that's a good thing is up to you to decide.

Currently, Mercedes says it plans to sell the X-Class in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Germany, Great Britain, and South Africa. They won't have to wait long to get it, either. Production is currently slated to begin in late 2017.
When asked for comment on whether it will come to the U.S., Mercedes-Benz USA said "the Mercedes-Benz pickup shown on October 25, 2016 is a concept. While a pickup is under consideration for the US market at some point, no timeline is available for a decision to be made."
