The "Salt Bride" Photo Series by Israeli Artist, Sigalit Landau (9 Photos)

Amazing. Check out the transformation of a black dress after it was dunked into the Dead Sea for a few months. It was done for a photo project. The dress probably weighed a ton after it was retrieved from the salty waters. It's also more proof (as if anymore is needed), of how salt-rich the waters of Dead Sea are.

The photographs are on display at London's Marlborough Contemporary until September 3, 2016...

Israeli artist Sigalit Landau created an eight-part photo series called 'Salt Bride' - using the Dead Sea. She submerged a black gown in its waters in 2014 and returned multiple times over the span of three months to capture its salinity-induced transformations, as glimmering crystals gradually conquered the dark fabric.

NORWAY: Over 300 Reindeer Killed by Lightning

How is that possible? That's a lot of reindeer dying all at once - although the area seems to be a reindeer haven. It is said around 10,000 wild reindeer roam the mountain area...

In this image made available by the Norwegian Environment Agency on Monday Aug. 29 2016, shows some of the more than 300 wild reindeer that were killed by lighting in Hardangervidda, central Norway on Friday Aug. 26, 2016 in what wildlife officials say was a highly unusual massacre by nature. STOCKHOLM — More than 300 wild reindeer have been killed by lighting in central Norway.
The Norwegian Environment Agency has released eerie images showing a jumble of reindeer carcasses scattered across a small area on the Hardangervidda mountain plateau. The agency says 323 animals were killed, including 70 calves, in the lightning storm Friday.
Agency spokesman Kjartan Knutsen told The Associated Press it's not uncommon for reindeer or other wildlife to be killed by lightning strikes but this was an unusually deadly event.
"We have not heard about such numbers before," he said Monday.
He said reindeer tend to stay very close to each other in bad weather, which could explain how so many were killed at once.
"I don't know if there were several lighting strikes," he said. "But it happened in one moment."
Knutsen said the agency is now discussing what to do with the dead animals. Normally, they are just left where they are to let nature take its course, he said.

Hot Wheels Road Trip

Ride along on the Hot Wheels car as it travels through 8 different track sections all connected by teleporting tunnels. From the backyard to the big hill to the pool and back, this track’s got it all.

Each section worked on its own from tunnel to tunnel. The cart is powered entirely by gravity at all times.

In total there are 11 cuts in the video, 7 between locations and 4 for slow motion footage. The jump section and the loop section were filmed twice, once in 30 fps and again in 120 fps, and the final video cuts from the normal speed footage to the slow motion footage for the duration of both the jump and the loop.

The cart worked reasonably well underwater and only fell off the pool track a few times. The main problem with the pool track was keeping the track connected and in place. A rock was attached to the end of the track in order to weigh it down.

In total about 200 feet of track was used, nearly all of which is present in the 4th section. Filmed with a GoPro Hero4 Session mounted on a modified 2014 Pharadox car. Filmed in California and Colorado.

POW! Right in the Penis! Olympic Dream Crushed.

Viral Randomness...

Ouch. Talk about the ultimate betrayal!..

28-year-old Japanese pole vaulter, Hiroki Ogita was attempting to clear a height of 5.3 meters (17.3 feet) in group A of the first round of the pole vault, when his leg came in contact with the bar. As he began to drop back down toward the ground, his shin grazed the bar, causing it to wobble dangerously.

But it was his penis that delivered the final blow. Already unsteady, the bar was dislodged from its holdings when Ogita’s slit-eyed demon decided to make an appearance and slap the metal. The vaulter’s arm then collected the bar as it began to fall - and of course, it was all captured on film...

The foul effectively cost Ogita a place in the final placing him in 21st place in the pole vault event at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

The Wolf - Fine Art Bodypainting by Johannes Stötter

Johannes Stötter is back again with yet another impressive body painting creation...

A short Interview with the Artist:

How difficult was it compared to your other works? Do you think it is your best yet?

It was definitely more difficult than my other works, it was difficult to find the perfect position and it was quite hard for the models to hold the positions, from time to time they needed a break. Also it was difficult because the wolf is a mammalian and it has a coat, which is much more difficult to paint and to make seem realistic than for example the skin of an amphibian or a reptile.

The painting was one of my longest as well. From the beginning to the final photo I spend 8 hours in my studio. In the middle we spent at least 1 hour to correct the position again and again, the pure painting time was about 6 hours.

The first sketch took me just a few minutes, but it took 4 hours to check out the position with the models before the actual painting, it was my longest position test ever.

It is hard to say if the wolf is my best yet, but I am sure it is not less spectacular than my other animal illusions. Besides a wolf is an animal which generally attracts a lot of people.

How did you make the background of this work?

The background is painted with acrylic color on cardboard, partly with brushes, partly with spray cans. It hangs on the wall and continues on the ground.

These Rare Giraffes Were Killed Just for Their Tails (Exclusive Video)

The killing of three rare Kordofan giraffes inspired a filmmaker to transform his anger into action. David Hamlin was on assignment in the Democratic Republic of the Congo when he saw a female and two male giraffes peacefully making their way through the tall grass. The next morning he learned that the three animals were found shot and mutilated. Shocked by the news and compelled to uncover the truth, Hamlin decided to visit the site of the killings to document this horrific act. Accompanied by armed rangers from the nonprofit conservation organization African Parks and the Congolese Parks Authority ICCN, he ventured through the volatile grounds of Garamba National Park. There he learned that the giraffes were killed for something worth thousands of U.S. dollars: their tails.

How the World Map Looks Wildly Different Than You Think

All of us have seen a world map at some point in our lives before, but it is very difficult to imagine how certain countries and parts of the world compare to each other in size that are far apart. In this video, I explore why the world looks very different than how it is portrayed in the Mercator Projection map. I then go on to explore how certain countries are unexpectedly larger or smaller than what they appear to be, and how some places looks wildly different than our perceptions.

PS; Don't totally hate on the Mercator Projection, it's actually a really useful map for navigation and on keeping the correct shape of countries while sacrificing the size that we can all laugh about!
